This Privacy Policy explains how Clear Tech Limited ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data when you use the ClearPlayer application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What Data We Collect
We collect and process the following data when you use the App:
Account and authentication data
- Username / login credentials (stored locally on your device and transmitted securely to your service provider's portal)
- Session tokens used to authenticate your access
Usage data
- The last channel you were watching (stored locally on your device to restore your position)
- Your app preferences such as home theme, EPG timezone offset and browse mode settings (stored locally on your device)
- Favourite channels list (stored locally on your device)
Technical data
- App version, device type and operating system version (used for update checks and crash diagnosis)
- IP address (transmitted to your service provider's server when accessing streams — we do not log or store this ourselves)
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, address or payment information
- We do not collect biometric data
- We do not track your location
- We do not serve advertising or share your data with advertisers
- We do not sell your data to any third party
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely for the following purposes:

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling or automated decision-making.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Most of your data (preferences, credentials, favourites) is stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. It does not leave your device except when authenticating with your service provider's portal.
- Session tokens are transmitted over HTTPS to your service provider's server.
- We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
- We do not operate our own user database — your account credentials are managed entirely by your service provider.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- Your service provider — your login credentials and session token are shared with the portal you connect to in order to authenticate your access. This is necessary for the App to function.
- Legal obligations — we may disclose data if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request from a public authority.
6. Data Retention
- Data stored locally on your device is retained until you uninstall the App or clear the App's data in your device settings.
- We do not retain personal data on our own servers beyond what is necessary for app update checks.
7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data where we have no legitimate reason to continue processing it
- Right to restriction — you can ask us to restrict how we process your data
- Right to object — you can object to our processing of your data based on legitimate interests
- Right to data portability — you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format

8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. Third-Party Services
The App connects to your chosen service provider's portal. That provider operates independently and has their own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how your service provider handles your data. Please review their privacy policy separately.
The App uses libVLC (VideoLAN) as its media playback engine. libVLC is open source software and does not independently collect or transmit personal data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. The date at the top of this document will always reflect when it was last updated. Continued use of the App after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
